Marriage Therapy

· Are you constantly arguing about money and finances?

· Do you have a new baby or are preparing for one?

· Are you caring for aging parents?

· Do you feel like your spouse does not carry their weight in the marriage?

· Do you feel like you are making more of an effort than he/she is?

· Are you dissatisfied with your marriage?

· Do you argue about how to raise the children?

· Are you considering divorce or separation?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then Marriage Therapy (also called marital therapy or counseling) is appropriate for you. The purpose of marriage therapy is to learn new ways to deal with the challenges of married life. I teach Couple new skills and techniques that will help them cope with these challenges and strengthen their marriage. The benefits of marriage therapy include:

· learning how to listen to the other without being defensive

· learning how to talk so your spouse will listen

· preparing for or coping with a major change in the marriage*

· deciding whether or not you want to stay married

· identifying your reasons for staying together

· learning how to argue or fight fairly

People also seek marriage therapy to:

· reignite the spark or passion that drew you to your spouse

· balance the demands of work and/or children with your marriage

· understand the influence of your family on your marriage

· learn new ways to prioritize your marriage

Major changes in a marriage include:

· pregnancy or the birth of a child

· deciding whether or not to have children

· dealing with aging parents of one of both people

· transitioning from a two-income household to a one-income household

· a child leaving home

· infidelity or relationships outside of the marriage
