Self Care
The focus of self-care is recognizing your needs and taking care of them. Consistently putting the needs of others before your own needs can be detrimental and lead to anger, depression, and resentment. Self-care, or recognizing and meeting your own needs, is a necessary practice to leading a fulfilling life.
Self-care does not mean that you are selfish or disregard your responsibilities. Instead, you also recognize yourself and your needs as an important responsibility. Self-care rejuvenates and replenishes you so that you can fulfill your many roles in a healthy and satisfying way.
Therapy is a method of self-care. Getting your hair done or a monthly dinner date with friends are also wonderful examples of self-care. Other ideas include:
· Moderate exercise
· Reading a book
· Taking a walk
· Writing in a journal
